The Vascovid team got reunited for the first time from November 24th to 26th in Barcelona. Partners visited the Parc Taulí hospital and ICFO’s facilities and had the opportunity to discuss the project’s advancements and do in-person teamwork for the first time. Taking advantage of the first Consortium General Assembly, the partners from Splendo, based in the Netherlands, the Politecnico di Milano University and pioNIRS in Italy, travelled to Barcelona.
On Wednesday 24th, the hospital Parc Taulí, located in the city of Sabadell near Barcelona, organized a team meeting and a visit to their facilities. Dr Jaume Mesquida started the day by welcoming all the consortium members to the hospital and summarizing their latest advancements in studying cardiovascular and endothelial function. Highlighting the importance of new tools and devices like VASCOVID, and how they could help doctors make better decisions in intensive care, he also presented their expectations for the VASCOVID’s technology potential applications beyond covid-19 patients. Then, clinicians Leonardo Sarlabous and José Ibeas presented their clinical work on the Biosignal lab and the nephrology unit. Then, the partners had the opportunity to visit the ICU, guided by Dr. Mesquida. After lunch, the team discussed technical aspects of the project and met again for dinner in the Castelldefels beach.
On Thursday 25th, the Consortium held its general assembly at ICFO. With more than half of the consortium meeting in person, the rest of the partners connected online. Each work package leader presented the progress achieved during the first year of the project, the objectives accomplished and the status of the future goals and viewed the first year’s video. In the afternoon, ICFO’s team also showcased the prototype of the device. The partners wrapped up the week with technical meetings on the next day.
